Overview
Spray polyurethane foam (SPF) is the premium insulation option. It expands to fill every cavity, creates an air seal in the same step, and delivers R-3.5 to R-6.5 per inch (roughly double fiberglass). It's the right choice for tight spaces, rim joists, and 'sealed attic' assemblies popular in North Texas.
Open-cell foam is softer, less expensive, and vapor-permeable — best for interior walls and attic underdecks. Closed-cell foam is denser, higher R-value, and vapor-impermeable — best for exterior walls, rim joists, and any surface that might see moisture.
