Overview
In the North Texas climate, attic insulation does most of its work in summer — keeping the 130°F+ attic heat from radiating into your living space and forcing your AC to run constantly. Every additional R-value of attic insulation reduces cooling costs.
The Department of Energy recommends R-38 to R-60 for Dallas-Fort Worth (Climate Zone 3A). Most homes built before 2010 fall well short. Aura Home Experts evaluates existing insulation depth and recommends the most cost-effective upgrade path — usually blown-in fiberglass or cellulose on top of existing insulation.
