Overview
Dryer vent damage is more common than most homeowners realize. Vent runs behind walls get crushed, transition hoses at the dryer disconnect, termination caps rust and stick shut, and rodents chew through flexible foil ducting.
A damaged dryer vent causes three problems in order of urgency: it dumps moist air into wall cavities (mold), it makes your dryer run 2–3x longer (higher energy bills and premature dryer failure), and it dramatically increases fire risk from lint accumulation.
